Royal Mail Approved Franking Ink
All of our franking ink used in our recycling service is Royal Mail Approved. Royal Mail have performed extensive tests on our ink including many thousands of impressions from most of the Franking Machines available in the market today in addition to models dating back up to 10 years. All impressions were tested to meet readability and compatibility criteria for recognition by the Royal Mails high speed IMP / ILSM sorting machines. Before testing, all Approved cartridges gained CE approval and accreditation as part of the very stringent Royal Mail approval process. Mailcoms are one of only two independent companies to gain this coveted approval in the world!!

Are you recycling & refilling your franking machine ink cartridges?
Large franking machine manufacturers are happy for you to keep purchasing new and original ink cartridges at a high price. Not only is this expensive but also not very environmentally friendly. This is the first website of its kind solely dedicated to recycling your franking machine cartridges!
As our ink is approved by the Royal Mail, we ensure that every refilled / recycled franking machine ink cartridge is tested thoroughly in the franking machine that the cartridge is intended for.
After years of leading the way in franking cartridge recycling / refilling we have recently invested heavily in to new purpose built, bespoke high production franking machine ink cartridge refilling machines.

The refilling & recycling process
Here at Franking Cartridge Recycling, we refill and recycle your franking ink cartridges. To do this however, there is a specific process we use. We firstly check and test the cartridge that you provide to us, we will then refill your cartridge with Royal Mail Approved ink and then we will test the refilled cartridge to ensure it is fully compatible and working.

Frequently asked questions
What is Franking Cartridge Recycling?
Franking Cartridge Recycling is a UK refill and reset service for franking machine ink cartridges. You send us your empty cartridge, we refill it with Royal Mail approved ink, reset it, test it in the matching franking machine and post it back. The service is run by Mailcoms Ltd, a Royal Mail Authorised Franking Machine Maintainer and Inspector based in Cannock, Staffordshire.
Which franking machines do you refill ink cartridges for?
We currently refill and reset cartridges for 10 Pitney Bowes, 4 Neopost, 2 Quadient and 2 FP Mailing franking machine models. View every model we refill.
How does the refill service work?
Add the refill service to your basket and check out, print a copy of your receipt, then post your empty ink cartridge with the receipt to: Mailcoms Ltd, Units 7-8 Primary Point, Progress Drive, Cannock, Staffordshire, WS11 0JF. We check the cartridge, refill it with Royal Mail approved ink, reset it, test it and send it back to you. Your cartridge is despatched within 1 working day of reaching us.
Is your franking ink approved by Royal Mail?
Yes. We only use Royal Mail approved blue franking ink, which meets Royal Mail’s machine-readability requirements, including for Mailmark barcodes. Mailcoms is one of only two independent companies in the world to have gained Royal Mail approval for its franking ink.
How much can I save compared with a new cartridge?
Our refill and reset services start from £44.95 + VAT, with free UK delivery. Compared with manufacturers’ advertised prices for new cartridges, you can save up to 76% — for example, our Quadient iX-7 Series refill is £89.95 + VAT against an advertised £384.99 + VAT for a new cartridge. Each service page shows the manufacturer’s price for comparison.
Will a refilled cartridge last as long as a new one?
Yes. We guarantee your refilled cartridge will give the same number of impressions as the manufacturer’s published approximate print life for an original cartridge. Actual ink yields vary with usage and environmental conditions.
Is there a guarantee?
Every refilled cartridge is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of purchase. We guarantee it will be compatible with the machine it is intended for and give the same number of impressions as the manufacturer’s published print life for an original cartridge, or we will give you a 100% no-quibble refund.
How much is delivery?
Delivery is free on all orders, using our standard 3–5 working day service. A minimum delivery charge of £9.95 applies to some Highlands, Islands, Northern Ireland and offshore postcodes — see our delivery information for the full list.
Do I keep my original cartridge?
Yes. We refill and reset your own cartridge, so you keep the original cartridge case. Reusing it instead of buying a new one each time is also better for the environment.
